The decisive moment came early. On 10 minutes, Johnbosco Opara got the goal his side needed, his effort taking a deflection on its way into the net to hand Wheelers a lead they would never surrender.

Fire Brigade had a golden chance to level from the penalty spot, but Chinonso Okwute saw his spot-kick go begging — a miss that summed up a frustrating afternoon for the hosts. Having created the opening, they were left to rue what might have been.

For Wheelers, it's another example of why they sit top. They don't always dazzle, but they find ways to win — the hallmark of a serious side. For Fire Brigade, the search for consistency continues, with the fine margins once again not falling their way.

Greenstone FC 2–3 Warriors FC

The game of the day. Warriors FC survived a spirited Greenstone fightback to win a five-goal thriller 3–2 — but they were made to work every step of the way.

Warriors looked in control early. Andrés Rubio opened the scoring on 15 minutes, and Benny Torres doubled the lead on 35 to put the in-form side firmly in the driving seat.

But Greenstone FC, still chasing their first points of the season, refused to lie down. They struck back either side of half-time — first on 45 minutes, then again on 51 — to level the game at 2–2 and set up a grandstand finish. It was a display of real character from a side that has been knocking on the door all season.

The decisive blow came on 65 minutes, when Nelson Flores restored the Warriors lead and settled a pulsating contest. Warriors held on for the win, but Greenstone will take enormous heart from a performance that showed just how close they are to a breakthrough.
